5 Types of Cake Cabinet Glass You Need to Know

To create an ultimate user experience for display, the four panels of the cake cabinet are made of glass materials. Different types of glass are used in different price ranges. Tempered glass is commonly used, while ordinary glass is rarely used due to its poor safety as it is very unsafe. The following are four types of glass materials introduced.

glass

Type 1. Ordinary Glass

Ordinary glass is also called soda-lime glass. Its main components are silicon dioxide, sodium oxide, and calcium oxide. It has a relatively low price and good transparency, allowing customers to clearly see the appearance of the cakes. However, its hardness and heat resistance are relatively poor. In an environment with large temperature changes, it is prone to cracking. Moreover, its impact resistance is not strong, and it is relatively easy to break if subjected to external impact. Therefore, it is very unsafe and will not be used by regular manufacturers.

Type 2. Tempered Glass

Tempered glass is made by heating ordinary glass to a temperature close to its softening point and then rapidly cooling it with air. Its strength is much higher than that of ordinary glass, and its impact resistance is 3 - 5 times that of ordinary glass. In the daily operation of a cake shop, even if the glass of the cake cabinet is accidentally bumped, the tempered glass is not easy to break. Moreover, when it breaks, the tempered glass will form granular pieces, which is relatively safe and will not form sharp fragments like ordinary glass, thus avoiding causing serious harm to the human body. Its heat resistance is also good and can withstand a certain degree of temperature changes. For example, during the high temperature in summer or when the freshly baked cakes are placed in the cabinet and emit a lot of heat, the tempered glass can withstand it.

Type 3. Insulated Glass

Insulated glass is a glass product formed by evenly separating two or more pieces of glass with effective supports and bonding and sealing the periphery to form a dry gas space between the glass layers. It has good heat insulation properties and can effectively block the influx of external heat. For a cake cabinet that needs to be refrigerated, this helps to maintain the low-temperature environment inside the cabinet and reduce the energy consumption of the refrigeration equipment. Insulated glass can also play a certain role in sound insulation, reducing the interference of external noise on the cake display environment. However, the cost of insulated glass is relatively high, and its price is more expensive than that of ordinary glass and tempered glass.

Type 4. Coated Glass

Coated glass is formed by coating one or more layers of metal, alloy, or metal compound films on the glass surface. It can change the optical properties of the glass. For example, it has good reflection and low-emission characteristics. When used in a cake cabinet, the coated glass can reflect the light inside the cabinet, making the display effect of the cakes better, looking brighter and more attractive. Meanwhile, the low-emission characteristic also helps to maintain the temperature stability inside the cabinet, reduce heat exchange, and block ultraviolet rays to prevent the cakes from deteriorating due to long-term exposure to ultraviolet rays.

If you are a merchant with specific needs, you can choose to customize the appropriate cake cabinet glass for yourself.
